Buttercream: Beyond the Basics

Buttercream is so versatile. You can spread it, pipe it, texturize it, mold it, paint it, and much more. In this class, you'll learn how to use everyday tools to achieve various buttercream textures—and elevate your cake-decorating skills.
We'll start with simple techniques like covering a cake in sprinkles or applying drip icing, and we'll work our way up to applying gold leaf. If time permits, we'll also try texture sheets, texture combs, and stencils.
Textures Shown: naked, rustic, dotted, striped, watercolor, rosettes, stucco, petal effect, palette painted, marbled, faultline, terrazzo, rolled.
Prerequisites: You must have basic cake decorating skills.
Playing with Fondant

*This is a hands-on class*
In this class, you'll learn how to add "Wow!" to your cakes using homemade marshmallow fondant. We'll start with fondant coloring, texturing, and other fondant basics. Then we'll move from simple decorations—stripes, polka dots, letters, numbers, and flowers—to more complex configurations like logos, characters, animals, people, and bows. We'll even explore fondant-covered Rice Krispie sculptures!
You'll leave this class with more than an arsenal of tips and tricks. You'll learn to make decor ahead that you can take place on a frosted cake of your own!
Prerequisites: Basic cake decorating skills.
